The Ignou BCA admission is offered by the university in both January and July academic cycles. The students can check out admission notification and list of programmes offered by the university on its official website at www.ignou.ac.in.
The learners who are interested in joining this programme should obtain the prospectus and application form the university regional centre. After filling up the application form, they have to submit it along with the prescribed fee to the regional centre concerned.
The candidates should pay the fee in the form of Demand Draft. The fee in the form of cash will not be accepted.
Medium of Instruction:
At present, the university is offering this programme only in English medium at all regional centres.
IGNOU BCA Online Admission:
The BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications) is also available in the list of programmes which are available for online admission. Therefore, the learners can also apply for online admission if they have internet connectivity at their home or in their nearby.

How to apply for Ignou BCA Admission?
- Firstly, they need to register themselves at the web portal.
- Then they have to logged in to the admission portal with the Username and password which they have set up while registration.
- Before filling up the admission form, the student should make sure that they possess the scanned copy of their academic qualification certificates which fulfil the eligibility criteria for admission.
- Also, the candidate must possess the scanned copy of passport size photograph and signature which is required to fill the application form online.
- After filling up the application form, the candidate has to pay the programme fee online. The admission fee can be paid online via Credit/ Debit card.
About Programme:
The Indira Gandhi National Open University has introduced the BCA programme with an objective to provide education to the learners in the field of Computers and Information Technology. It is one of the most demanding programme at degree level in the IT field in which students want to take admission.
This is due to increase in opportunities in the IT industry. It is a three-year Bachelor degree programme.The university has adopted the semester system approach for it which means this programme will be studied by students in semester wise.
Programme Objective:
This programme has been offered by School of Computer Information Sciences (SOCIS) in the University.It has been designed with the main objective to provide students with knowledge,competence, and skills and qualification at the Bachelor’s Degree level in the professional area of Computing and IT industry.
It has been introduced with an objective to open a channel of admission for computing courses for students. The students can go for higher studies (Master of Computer Applications (MCA)) after acquiring this bachelor degree. It is also very helpful to to get jobs in Information and Technology sector.
Eligibility Criteria and Other requirements:
- Eligibility: The candidate seeking admission in Bachelor of Computer Applications programme of Indira Gandhi National Open University should have completed 10+2 or its equivalent qualification.
- Duration of Programme: The student should pass or clear all the courses of this programme within the minimum duration of 3 years and maximum duration of 6 years.
- Programme Fee: Candidate seeking admission to it are required to submit fee of Rs.30,000/- for full programme which is to be paid semester wise @Rs. 5,000/- per semester. (Note : Please confirm the latest fees as it may change during the course of time.)
- Age Eligibility : There is no minimum and maximum age bar for this course.
Examination:
The university conducts the BCA examination twice in a year i.e in the month of June and December. The students who take admission in January can appear for examination in the month of June. In the same way, the students who take admission in July session are eligible to appear in the December term-end examination.
The Ignou BCA programme consists of both practical as well as theory courses.Therefore, the university also conducts the practicals after finishing up the theory examination. In order to complete the Bachelor degree in computer Applications, the students need to complete a total of 99 credits including dissertation (BCSP 64).
Admission Status:
Once the learner gets admission, he/she will be able to check their admission status by name on the university official website at following web URL: http://www.ignou.ac.in/ignou/studentzone/admission/6. In case, the learner finds any discrepancy, he/she should immediately contact their regional centre concerned.
